Ethnic Dinner

We are fast running out of ethnicities but Elaine was on the ball when she found Pure South in the City at Southgate. She called it ethnic Tasmania!
All the food is sourced from Tasmania, King Island and Flinders Island
We had a lovely entree of scallops but chose not to have deserts use go again and have main and dessert they looked great!
Salmon on bed of quinoa and macadamia
The others all had Rabbit and said it was lovely
The food was not cheap but excellent value and the restaurant was beautiful, ....and food was delicious!!

Kites across the Bay

A last minute request from the Kite boarders who were running an event to raise money for Cancer cam on Friday night. They were coming form Sorrento to Port Melbourne on Kiteboards. They left at 11am and were due in at 3pm. Now that is stamina. I think they stopped off at Rickets Point in Beaumaris but they were putting on a  BBQ for them when they arrived and could we open the bar?
The old salts reliving glory days!!
Being the long weekend we had some Committee members available  and a rescue boat (not that they needed one but there were a few straggler) but we really just sat around for the afternoon.  A few went sailing but it was a bit choppy, and Tony discovered the DVD of the Jolly Boat history with some of the Club history, so sat and watched that. Weird seeing me up there from my Commodore days!
kas had offered to do a 4 hour sift on the bar but spent most of her time restocking the fridge, tidying the store making a few coffees.
The Kites eventually arrived about 445 looking like some insect invasion as they came across the bay and then landed on the beach to the west of the club.

After they seemed organised and were straggling over to the gate where the BBQ was set up I reminded them that the bar was open till 6 if they wanted to come in. One woman commented 'Only six?"
When I left at 515 (was off to see Silver Linings Playbook--Brilliant) I said to Kas to use her discretion and if she felt it worthwhile to stay longer we would pay her hours.
She texted me later to say that she had taken $500 between 6 and 7 pm!! I hope one of the guys there helped her in the rush!

Hang it!

For years I mutter to myself as I look for somewhere to drape my pyjamas or gown in the bathroom.
On the trough edge (it has dropped in and got wet) on the rubbish bin, on the empty towel rail, gets in the way when i want to re hang the towel.
Then looking at the rail at the top behind the door (not used with less residents) I decided to get an over the door hanger and remove the small rail that is currently there.
Perfect solution $5. 95 at the reject store.

Only chore now is to repaint the door.
Let's see how many years before that happens!!

A Mouse tale.

We often get field mice inside in winter, but not sure what this one thinks he is doing.
Well and truly making himself at home.
The only thing he can get at is the fruit bowl.  Noticed a few nibbles last week then found 1/4 apple gone But today found this!
It was intact last night!!
Little blighter doesn't like the peel. It is left in a little pile in the bowl.
So have moved the fruit to the fridge until I get a cover ( he got under or over the tea towel I had draped.) I don't like cold fruit so I am pissed with him
Need a sophisticated trap methinks!

Yarraville Room

I have been meaning to take some pictures of my room in Yarraville but keep forgetting.
I consult there once a fortnight, in what is an unused Maternal & Child Health Nurse room. It is a two nurse centre but had had a vacant room for 15 mths.
The entrance. Great bed of Huge red Kangaroo Paw.
I started in July as I wanted to build up my private practice for when I retire from RCH in July 2013, and also provide a service in the Western suburbs
It has been at least 50% booked ever since.
In exchange for the room I do some Parent education groups X 3 in 6months. I think I get the poor end of the deal as I did one for them a year ago and got paid well!!
It was for a trial for 6 months, but when I discussed with the Co-ordinator earlier in December she is happy for me to continue, but they will be using the centre again, so I am changing my time so I finish at 1pm. That will be good as I will still have the afternoon off.
Grass no longer green, but the creek runs just over the rise
The room is in what is the Clare Court Children's Services centre A kindergarten  A Long Day Child Care, MCH Offices, and Play Group set in a garden on the edge of Stony Creek.

Typical MCH Office space

It is just off Williamstown Road before the Freeway access so just 8 minutes form home and handy to anywhere in the west, with easy access from Ballarat and Geelong Road and the Geelong Rd Freeway
My toys and high chair can stay there.

a bedside table

I was about to put my old (old!) chair out to the rubbish (or any passerby) when, as I went to clear it,  realised it had sat in my room as a depository for anything I had in my hand as I walked in (as is my wont)
So I decided it would be a good bedside table at Aireys, as the Main bedroom has none, and if I put my book on the floor Spencer may end up lying on it and my glasses case.

So out came the paint and a transformation from an old faded brown chair to a clean looking surface with a seaside theme !

Curls

I was well enough to do a day's babysitting yesterday with the gorgeous Dylan!
He is talking much more, and really grown tall.
He is mad about trains and tracks balls and books! But heaven help me if I try to pack up what he seems to be finished with!!!
He is well and truly due for a hair cut so thought I would capture his curls before they go!!

India and after

I've been unable to post all year ( not that 2020 has been a year of activity) and because the the action bar at the top of the blog di...
