My year of knitting

I had been working on a sweater over the last 10 years that I kept flinging in the cupboard out of frustration but decided in August last year to try to finish it AGAIN..
the jumper was knitted in the round with cable and bands (no problem) to the armholes and this i and finished ages ago
The design was unusual in that you cast on the cuffs knit up the sleeve across the yolk leaving a slash for the neck then down the other sleep to the cuff.
And in-between tossing it away I had lost the pattern
When I finished it first I found the cable across the front was off centre. and looked too odd to leave

  • So pulled it out
  • Next i finished, to find the 2nd sleeve ended 2/3 up my arm!
  • so I pulled it out
  • decided to do the sleeves separate and a separate yoke. not a good idea
  • so I pulled it out
  • When you pull it out (Frogging as in Rip it, rip it (ribbit) )the wool keeps the shape of the bent stitches and does not knit up again smooth;y
  • so i pulled it out
  • Time passed but then i Googled what to do with the wool (you wash in hanks in wool mix and allow to dry ..magic!
  • and in the process discovered Fruity knitting pod cast  An Australian couple living in Germany, Andrea and her husband Andrew and she is an AMAZING knitter

Fruity Knitting
So i finished the jumper

Then Celia came home and wanted some new sweaters
Then a red one in an old pattern
I did a cardigan for my self as well as 2 others!!

The top one was made form wool bought at an Op shop Cost of $8. Finished off with some Possum merino wool from NZ
Then Celia wanted to replace a favourite that was looking a bit old so I copied the design and did it in her fav purple and black

I'd also learnt about Needle felting and repair my poncho that the silverfish had got at
I was inspired by the Fruity Knitting pod cast and tend to knit while I was watching it

I don't wear hats much but wanted to try this stitch

This was for Tala, Amz' new baby but was claimed by Cailyn 3 yo so made a 2nd one

Celia wanted a cap for her Northern lights trip and admired my tea cosy

Climate Change Strike

I had to be at work at 2pm in Treasury Place so instead of driving I went by train and joined the crowds arriving at Parliament station
The rally started in the Treasure Gardens outside my work place and staff arriving later said they had to fight their way 'upstream" to get up Swanson Street

India and after
